Cisco Jabber
The Cisco Jabber application, which provides instant messaging and IP phone control, is available to all employees at TUKE. Cisco Jabber is supported on Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms (iOS and Android). Unfortunately, a Linux version is not available.
Core features of the Cisco Jabber client include:
- Sending messages to signed-in users – “chatting”
- Controlling your IP phone from your PC (receive calls on your PC, dial numbers on your IP phone from your PC, search and add contacts, etc.)
- Group conversations with the ability to escalate to group calls
- File sharing (up to 50 MB)
- Screen sharing
- Remote control of another PC through shared screen
If outdated profile pictures appear in your contact list, you can try clearing the photo cache using the Windows utility clear_jabber_photo_cache.exe (210 kB).
After downloading and installing the Windows or Mac version, a login window will appear. Sign in using your credentials in the format ab123xy@tuke.sk.

We recommend checking the option “Sign me in when Cisco Jabber starts” to avoid logging in manually each time.

After signing in, try adding a contact by clicking on “Add a company”:

Enter the first letters of a name or surname, select the person from the results, and add them to one of your custom contact groups:

You can create multiple contact groups with any names you prefer:

If your login is linked to an IP phone in the TUKE IP telephony system, you can control your IP phone directly from the Jabber application:

To send a message, you can do this:

Or start a group conversation – for instance, if you’re collaborating on a project with others:
